About Divorce Poetry
Fifty percent of married couples go through divorce and about a quarter of American divorces involve baby boomers. I never expected to be a statistic. But as I realized the intimacy had eroded and so had the love, the kind of love needed to stay married, we decided that it was better than decades of settling for a tense, hurtful, loveless marriage.
My recovery came in waves and stages. Rediscovering the writer within, I picked up the pen and started writing poetry again to soothe myself through the process. Divorce is universal. People break down, break up, and end up broken. But through the power of verse, good friends, altered expectations, and embracing the new my poetry evolved, I realized that we all can, eventually, break free.
Through my work on Divorce Poetry, I guide others on a soul healing journey through the five stages of divorce – break down, break up, broken, break through, and on to breaking free – assisting them in reclaiming their joy and beginning a brand new life on their terms.
